Block Captain Monthly, November 2023

Block Captains and Fellow Neighborhood Enthusiasts,

BLUF: BC Meeting next Thursday; 50/50 match program for planter boxes; Ravens watch party this Sunday; FHNA General Meeting moved up to deconflict with Thanksgiving!

1) Quarterly Meeting. We'll have our quarterly block captain meeting next Thursday (the 16th) on the second floor of Cross St Public House at 7pm. Please RSVP here! https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86231516147

2) 50/50 Match on Planter Boxes. FHNA won a grant to 50/50 match new window planters! FHNA will pay up to $125 to offset the cost of a new planter box. This idea was proposed at our block captain quarterly in February, so I'm pumped that we're making this happen.  Please let your neighbors know to register their interest here (first come, first serve)!

3) Ravens Watch PartyFHNA is hosting a Ravens game watch party at Cross St Market this Sunday, starting at 12:30pm. Drinks are 20% for watch-party attendees. You can RSVP here!

4) Holiday lighting. Reminder that we'll have our annual Best-Decorated Block contest this December (probably sometime in 12-14 December). Winner claims the honor and burden to take home and display the Leg Lamp trophy!

5) Public Safety. If you or any of your neighbors might be interested in getting more involved with the FHNA's public safety effort, I encourage you/them to reach out to Brad O'Brien, our public safety chair, for coffee, at fhna.publicsafety@gmail.com. I am sure we are all aware of the spike in armed robberies and stolen cars over the last 6 months or so.

6) FHNA General Meeting is next Tuesday (the 14th) at 6:30pm! We moved it up one week to deconflict with Thanksgiving. Meetings are now at Light St Presbyterian with a high-quality hybrid option. For those who haven't been recently, I encourage you to come check out the new format!

Sincerely,

Zac
